Waikato Regional Council has divided the Waikato region's lakes into five distinct and separate categories. The categories are based on where they are located and how they were formed.

The maps below show locations of the lakes in the region.  A yellow dot against a lake indicates that there is more information on this website. To find out more, click on the related link button.
