Local Governance Statement

Your council

Your council handbook 2017 | Tō kaunihera – he puka whakamārama 2017 is your guide to Waikato Regional Council, incorporating the Local Governance Statement.

A local governance statement outlines the ways in which a local authority engages with its community, makes decisions, and how people can become involved with their regional council.

We hope this resource is useful and contains all the information you, the community, needs regarding the council and how you can become involved.

Triennial agreement

The Waikato Regional Triennial Agreement outlines how local government in the Waikato region will consult in order to work collaboratively, maximise efficiency and promote wellbeing in our communities. The agreement was signed by all parties before the required date of 31 March 2017.

Code of conduct

The code of conduct describes the roles, the relationship and the agreed standards of behaviour elected members have with each other, the chief executive, council staff, the community and the media. The code’s appendix sets out how legislation requirements affect elected members’ duties and conduct.
