The regional walking and cycling strategy was developed by Waikato Regional Council in collaboration with the Regional Walking and Cycling Steering Group, stakeholders of whom are located throughout the region. The strategy outlines policies and actions and maps that are intended to enhance walking and cycling in the region.

Rural cycling survey

On 20 April 2011 Waikato Regional Council convened a workshop on major walking and cycling projects currently underway or planned in the region. The forum's purpose was to share information on projects and identify project benefits and funding gaps.
